David Tuček

I have known Professor David Tuček for many years, both from narrowly focused scientific conferences and from expert discussions on broader society-wide topics. I appreciate that he serves as a highly valuable member of the leadership of the Equilibrium Institute — the Institute's activities are focused on seeking systemic connections in the development of Czech society, Czech science, and education. There he proactively contributes to organizing a whole range of unique events.

I consider Professor Tuček a significant figure in Czech science, whose views and activities reach beyond his own field of economics and management. He is a person with clear conceptual thinking and with visions that take current reality into account. He is highly constructive and has excellent organizational skills, which he demonstrated as the long-serving Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics of TBU.

I am convinced that Professor Tuček is an excellent candidate for the position of Rector of TBU. His tenure in this office would be an asset not only for the university in Zlín, but equally for the entire Czech educational and research landscape. We need rectors who are able to contribute, through conceptual and principled positions, to a healthy transformation of the Czech economy and of Czech society as a whole. That is why I unequivocally support his candidacy.

I have known prof. Ing. David Tuček, Ph.D. personally for many years from numerous working meetings and social events. I consider him a respected academic, an experienced manager, and a person with a long-standing active interest not only in the development of his own field, but also in the broader questions of how higher education institutions in the Czech Republic operate and are governed.

What I value most about him are our substantive and open discussions on the governance of higher education institutions — whether at the time when we both served as deans, or now, when we discuss the possible impacts of legislative proposals arising from the deliberations of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. These debates repeatedly demonstrate his ability to view the higher education environment in a broader context, to formulate clear positions, and at the same time to listen to the arguments of others. I particularly appreciate that in these debates David Tuček does not rely merely on theoretical notions, but above all on his many years of experience from the academic environment and from managing university units. I value the fact that he discusses differing opinions in a matter-of-fact way, with respect, and with the aim of finding a solution that is beneficial for the university as a whole in the long term.

I am convinced that precisely the ability to lead a dialogue, to bring different perspectives together, and at the same time to take responsibility for decisions is among the key prerequisites for successfully leading a modern university. For these reasons, I support the candidacy of prof. Ing. David Tuček, Ph.D. for the position of Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, because I believe he will be able to put his experience and abilities to effective use in leading the university.

I have long known Professor David Tuček as a person who can connect worlds that often remain separate — universities, business, and top-level management. Within the Czech Management Association, he plays a significant role in building Centers of Excellence at universities, and as Chair of the Evaluation Committee of the Manager of the Year award he enjoys the respect and trust of the community of leading Czech managers. He is able to build professional relationships that do not end with formal contacts, but lead to genuine cooperation and bring the university environment experience and opportunities from practice.

I also respect David for his human dimension. For many years he has personally devoted himself to young people from children's homes and socially disadvantaged backgrounds through the Summer Entrepreneurship Camps, which approximately 300 young people have already attended. He passes on his experience to them, gives them his time, and helps them believe in their own abilities. That, in my view, is how you recognize a true leader — not only by his own results, but also by what he is able to open up and make possible for others.

For me, Prof. David Tuček represents a modern academic leader: professionally strong, respected in the management community, open to cooperation, and at the same time humane. I am convinced that precisely this kind of leadership can help Tomas Bata University in Zlín open its doors even wider to companies, top managers, new partnerships, and opportunities for students. That is why I support his candidacy with full confidence.

Professor David Tuček is an excellent candidate for Rector of TBU in Zlín. I know him as a person who does not shy away from resolving unpleasant and crisis situations, who seeks the truth and puts his own skin in the game. He ranks among the top, internationally recognized experts in the field of industrial engineering. He has respect for people, is able to build relationships of trust and cooperation, and can create a strong team around himself. David Tuček has my trust and my support.

I have been actively cooperating with Professor Tuček since the spring of 2024, when a partnership agreement was signed between Tomas Bata University in Zlín and Amazon. From the very beginning, the professor has made an exceptional contribution to developing this cooperation — thanks to his personal commitment and initiative, more than a dozen events for university students have been held directly on Amazon's premises.

Our most significant joint project consists of regular hands-on workshops focused on Lean principles and their application in a real operational environment. These workshops allow students to gain valuable practical experience and to connect theoretical knowledge with the everyday reality of one of the world's largest logistics companies.

Professor Tuček has been working systematically and over the long term to bring the academic and business spheres closer together. His ability to connect the university with practice and to build long-term partnerships with major industrial partners is, in my view, one of the key qualities that a modern university needs from its leadership.

I am convinced that Professor Tuček has the vision, determination, and practical experience needed to move Tomas Bata University in Zlín further forward — both in education and in connecting the academic world with industrial practice.

I first came to know prof. David Tuček professionally about twenty years ago, through cooperation with academic departments focused on industrial engineering and management. Since then, our professional paths have repeatedly crossed on many constructive and inspiring occasions — at professional workshops, conferences, meetings of subject-area and scientific boards, at final state examinations in master's and doctoral programs, and in other bodies of the academic and professional community.

What I value exceptionally about Prof. Tuček is his systematic approach, his ability to effectively connect academia with practice, and at the same time his emphasis on quality and on the real-world impact of the results achieved. I respect him not only for his diligence and perseverance, but also for his human approach, sense of humor, and sense of perspective, thanks to which working with him is always focused, efficient, and at the same time very pleasant.

I am convinced that, thanks to his expertise and personal qualities, Prof. David Tuček's work at Tomas Bata University in Zlín will be a significant asset. He is able to open up new opportunities, manage large-scale tasks, and at the same time create an environment based on professionalism, respect, and cooperation. I therefore give him my full support, and it will be an honor to continue working with him professionally.

David Tuček is one of the people who have long been very closely associated with Tomas Bata University in Zlín. During his time at the university he has held a number of important academic and managerial positions — he served as Vice-Rector, Vice-Dean, Director of the Center for Economic Research, and, for eight years, as Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics. I personally had the opportunity to work with him on practically a daily basis for almost eleven years, and I was thus able to get to know very well his understanding of the university environment and his ability to find solutions even in difficult situations. His many years of experience and thorough knowledge of how the university works are among the qualities that matter greatly for the office of rector.

I have known prof. Ing. David Tuček, Ph.D. for more than 20 years — at first primarily as an expert in the field of industrial engineering, and later as a person who is highly capable in preparing and delivering projects, which led us to cooperate on joint projects. During this cooperation I had the opportunity to get to know his professional qualities, his professionalism, and his remarkable ability to connect the academic environment with practice, as well as his approach to people and to teamwork.

As Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, based in Trnava (MTF STU), I greatly value his experience, his energy, and his ability to find concrete solutions even in demanding managerial situations.

In my opinion, Prof. Tuček is a person who can bring different perspectives together, create space for cooperation, and at the same time take responsibility for his decisions. I am convinced that he will be able to successfully apply his experience, professional competence, managerial skills, and clear vision in leading the university as well.

From my position as a former Chair of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Management and Economics of TBU and its current representative in the Assembly of the Council of Higher Education Institutions, I have had the opportunity to know prof. Ing. David Tuček, Ph.D. over the long term and to follow his work in the academic environment. I greatly value his expertise, his sense of responsibility, and his natural, respectful way of leading people.

I appreciate his ability to develop cooperation between academia and business practice. I also consider significant his ability to connect individuals and institutions, a striking example of which is his personal role in founding the Association of Deans of Faculties of Economics.

At the beginning of our cooperation, he told me a sentence that captures him for me to this day: “You have to ignite people — they must keep burning on their own.” („Člověka musíte zažehnout, hořet už musí sám.“) It is precisely this ability to “ignite” in people the desire to create, to grow, and to move things forward that I consider one of his greatest strengths.

I have known Professor David Tuček as a highly respected academic, experienced university leader, and reliable international partner with whom I have had the opportunity to cooperate for many years. I particularly value his ability to connect academic teams across institutions, build meaningful and sustainable partnerships, and translate international cooperation into concrete activities, including joint projects, conferences, doctoral education, and academic exchanges.

Based on my long-standing cooperation with Professor Tuček and my direct knowledge of his academic and managerial achievements, I am convinced that he possesses the professional competence, leadership experience, institutional knowledge, and personal integrity required to successfully lead Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
